A panel of prominent experts in the field will unpack the latest trends, intelligence, and strategies in the cyber security industry.

They will also provide updates on the latest innovations and improvements and assess how the Commonwealth is partnering with industry to strengthen the nation’s cyber defences.

Speakers include Microsoft APAC chief cyber security adviser Abbas Kudrati; Cyber GC principal Annie Haggar; cyber security evangelist, office of the chief technology officer at Check Point Software Technologies, Ashwin Ram; founder and chief information security officer (CISO) at 7 Rules Cyber, Chirag Joshi; and AGL Energy CISO Maryam Bechtel.

What you’ll learn

Attendees will not only gain an understanding of the new cyber crime landscape but also learn how to defend themselves against cyber attacks and receive tips on how to upskill their workforce.

After beginning the conference with a captivating keynote address on the current and emerging threats to Australian businesses, government bodies, and critical infrastructure in an online world, the summit will proceed into a business stream and a technical stream.

The business stream will also commence with a keynote address on the importance of public and private partnerships and how the private sector and Australia’s cyber agencies could foster stronger relationships and collaborate effectively to build a robust cyber security ecosystem.

Following this, a panel of speakers will discuss how to prepare businesses for the aftermath of a cyber security incident and arm attendees with practical tools to overcome challenges and return to business as usual.

Simultaneously, a guest from the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) will kick off the technical stream with a fascinating keynote address on the most common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) impacting Australian businesses and how cyber security leaders could overcome them.

Following this, another panel of speakers will conduct an in-depth examination of the latest malware strains and emerging threat vectors, provide case studies of recent high-profile attacks, unpack strategies for early detection and prevention, and outline the role of threat intelligence sharing and collaboration.

All streams will converge in the afternoon to hear from a panel of speakers about how to protect Australia’s critical infrastructure, especially as the convergence of IT and the internet of things (IoT) has revolutionised critical infrastructure while at the same time opening avenues for threat actors to exploit hardware vulnerabilities and target critical infrastructure, including energy, transportation, water, healthcare, resources and communications systems.

Businesses will gain insights on how to build tailor-made cyber security strategies for OT and IT systems while implementing risk mitigation techniques to protect valuable hardware.

Who should attend

The summit is ideal for a broad spectrum of individuals and businesses, including cyber security professionals and businesses working across all major industries who want to build their knowledge around the cyber security landscape and learn how to bolster their cyber security posture.

We also encourage CISOs and risk leaders from large enterprises to attend in order to gain insight into the emerging victimology trends and how businesses are being impacted.

Finally, government representatives wishing to gain a greater understanding of how the industry is rising to the challenge of keeping Australians safe are urged to be present at the summit.

Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to network with leaders of the cyber security industry as well as their peers and colleagues.

The Australian Cyber Security Summit 2024 will be held on Thursday, 20 June 2024, at the National Convention Centre, Canberra.
