When the federal government announced the national security initiative it was calling Project REDSPICE in March 2022, part of the promised tranche of improvements was to grow the workforce by 1,900 people.
It seems that recruitment drive might be kicking off for the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), as it has started advertising a number of new senior positions.
There’s no hard number on just how many positions the ASD is looking to fill, but there are positions open at the Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 1 in four different groups:
Senior roles are available with each group, ranging from the directorate’s legal team and signals intelligence, to cyber defence.
“In all positions, you will have responsibility for leading a branch through a transformation program that recognises the rapid pace of development in technology and a fluid international security environment,” the job ad reads, “while continuing to deliver on the operational requirements of the position. You will work closely with international partners and will manage an Australia-wide workforce.”

“Leaders in ASD will contribute to growing the agency and implementing REDSPICE, a major program that adds 1,900 new positions and delivers new major capabilities.”
