The AFP is advertising for a new chief information security officer to help shape its Cyber Security Strategy.
The Australian Federal Police has placed a job ad on SEEK, looking for someone to step into the role of chief information security officer as part of the agency’s senior leadership team.
“The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is a key player in the Australian security landscape, rising to complex challenges and staying a step ahead to protect Australians as new threats emerge,” the ad said.

The role is an SES Band 1 position, with a salary in excess of $220,000 a year.
For that princely sum, the new starter will be responsible for “shaping and executing the Cyber Security Strategy, including the delivery of cyber security operations and the associated capability uplift”.

The AFP is looking for someone with “substantial experience in the management of cyber security, technology and risks,” knowledge of modern cyber security technologies and practices, as well as an understanding of the Australian government’s Protective Security Policy Framework and the Australian Signals Directorate’s Essential Eight Maturity Model.
