The Victorian government has announced a government cyber security state purchase contract, which will allow it to source cyber security solutions and cover key security areas.
The closed panel arrangement began last month and will provide the government access to suppliers of four key cyber security services – endpoint protection, vulnerability management, application control, and third-party risk management.
“I am incredibly proud of the team for achieving this outcome. Following an extremely thorough vetting process, a number of technologies and vendors have been selected as approved to supply Victorian government,” said whole of Victorian government deputy chief information security officer Shane Moffitt in a LinkedIn post.
“This consolidation of work will dramatically reduce workload on government entities, reduce time to deploy and significantly reduce costs to the Victorian government.”
As per the contract, the government will source cyber security technologies, licenses and services from local firms and organisations.
As an example, for endpoint protection, the government will source Fortinet from Centorrino Technologies, MS Defender from CyberCX, and CrowdStrike through Ernst & Young.
For vulnerability management, Tenable and Qualys services will be obtained through CyberCX and Ernst & Young, respectively.
For application control, Airlock Digital, Ivanti and VMware will be supplied by AC3, Logicalis Australia, and NTT Australis, respectively, and for third-party risk management, CyberGRX will be supplied by Sparx Solutions.
“This is the first contract of its type in Australia and has been a passion project of mine for a long time. I am grateful to all the subject matter experts from across [the] Victorian government that went above and beyond in ensuring that we got fit-for-purpose solutions,” added Moffitt.
