Detectives from NSW police have arrested and charged a woman for using a government computer to access information for criminal purposes.
The woman was arrested earlier in the week, with her actions relating to a kidnapping that occurred last month.
According to an NSW police press release, she was charged with “take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, unauthorised function with intent serious offence (penalty>10 y), access/modify restricted data held in a computer, and participate criminal group, contribute criminal activity”.
“Police will allege in court the woman was an employee of a state government agency and accessed personal data which was shared with others for the purpose of criminal activity.”
NSW police detectives from the command robbery and serious crime squad formed Strike Force Kkuoa after a 26-year-old Smithfield man was allegedly abducted and thrown into a vehicle by six men.
The group of men have been accused of abduction, holding the victim, and abusing him physically over six days. They are currently before the courts.
During the task force’s ongoing investigation, detectives then arrested the 21-year-old Yagoona woman in Greenacre on Wednesday (12 April).
She was taken to Auburn Police Station and appeared in Burwood Local Court the following day.
Strike Force Kkuoa’s investigations are still ongoing.
