Supported by principal partner Palo Alto Networks and gold partners Tesserent and AUCloud, the awards ceremony recognised the best and brightest in the cyber security industry.

Twenty-two award winners were recognised throughout the gala event from 202 submissions and 126 finalists across company and individual categories, with the highest-scoring winner from the individual category taking home the prestigious Excellence Award.

Over 300 professionals registered for the ceremony, with comedian Mark Humphries providing entertainment throughout the evening.

The ceremony followed the inaugural Australian Cyber Security Summit, which hosted the nation’s leading cyber security thought leaders unpacking the need-to-know intelligence to keep Australian businesses safe.

Throughout the summit, delegates had the opportunity to hear directly from Assistant Director-General Cyber Uplift Alan Marjan at the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) on the ACSC and ASD’s latest efforts to overcome cyber crime.

Meanwhile, Senator James Paterson, chair of select committee on foreign interference through social media, shadow minister for home affairs and shadow minister for cyber security, detailed those policy platforms required to keep Australians safe amid an evolving threat environment.

“It was a pleasure to celebrate with those professionals who have dedicated their careers to building a more resilient Australia,” Cyber Security Connect editor Liam Garman said.

“From those quiet achievers who protect our information systems, through to those who have made a splash to make their organisations more cyber secure.

“I congratulate all of our finalists and winners and look forward to celebrating with you again next year!”

The ceremony showcased the depth of talent in the cyber security industry, recognising all those who have contributed to building a disruptive and innovative cyber security industry.

Categories ranged from construction and real estate cyber security professional of the year, to cyber security lawyer of the year and even the financial services cyber security professional of the year — while acknowledging a range of talent and skills from rising stars to executives.
