The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has allegedly had its systems breached and data leaked online on the notorious BreachForums hacking forum.
UNICEF is a global non-profit specialising in child welfare by protecting their rights and providing them with necessary supplies for health and nutrition, such as vaccines, safe water, quality education, sanitation, HIV prevention, protection from violence and more. The organisation operates in over 190 countries and territories around the world.
A user by the name @888 said on Saturday, 27 April, that UNICEF had been breached and that he had uploaded the resulting stolen data for sale.
“Hello BreachForums Community. Today I have uploaded UNICEF Data for you to download, thanks for reading and enjoy,” said @888.
“In April 2024, UNICEF suffered a data breach which resulted in several confidential files getting stolen.
“The Breach includes data from 11 countries.”

UNICEF Data Allegedly Leaked on a Hacking Forum
A threat actor with the alias “888” claims to have leaked data exfiltrated in a recent breach belonging to UNICEF, the United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to… pic.twitter.com/n2qXyh4tOz
According to the post, UNICEF was breached by @888 himself, and the resulting data includes “admins, names, addresses, phone numbers, education level, longitude, latitude and more”.
Additionally, a sample posted by @888 suggests data such as computer lab numbers, classroom numbers, electricity, water sources, and whether a school is run by a religious group or easily accessible has also been published.
Responding to comments, @888 said there were 11 .csv files in total, which together contained roughly 179,000 lines of data.
At this stage, @888’s claims have not been verified, and UNICEF has yet to release a statement confirming or denying the legitimacy of the breach.
