With free services and a mobile app, the new charity aims to protect seniors 65 and older from scams.
A new, first-of-its-kind charity has launched in Australia to protect seniors from scams and other cyber crime.
Kick-Ass Seniors offers a range of free services to Australians 65 and older in order to help them navigate an often challenging digital landscape.
In 2023 alone, over 76,000 older Australians lost more than $82 million to scams. Kick-Ass Seniors aims to fight back against cyber crime, with a helpline for victims to call and a first-response face-to-face call from an experienced technician to provide support.
“Whether it’s their last $50 or $50,000, the impact of this type of financial loss, the sense of humiliation and embarrassment leave our seniors feeling a great sense of shame; this is why we created Kick-Ass Seniors,” said Kick-Ass Seniors’ founder and CEO Wahid Siddique in a statement.
Kick-Ass Seniors will also provide a raft of online workshops and community forums, as well as a dedicated mobile app, the Kick-Ass App.
