Over 25 members of the cyber security industry were declared winners at the awards, now in its second year.
After the highly successful launch last year, the second annual Australian Cyber Security Awards 2024 black-tie gala ceremony was held tonight (20 June) at the National Convention Centre, Canberra, with support from principal partner Palo Alto Networks.
A total of 26 winners were chosen out of a record 166 finalists across 26 individual and group categories this year, while the highest-scoring individual winner was the recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award.
This year, the top prize was given to Chirag Joshi, chief information security officer (CISO) and founder of 7 Rules Cyber, after he was named Cyber Security Consultant of the Year earlier in the evening.

“Our first cyber awards last year was a great night of celebrating the industry, and this year was even better,” David Hollingworth, senior journalist for Cyber Daily, said.
“It really is fantastic being able to bring together the best and brightest for a big night off – the industry deserves a night like this.”
Over 300 members of the cyber security industry attended the awards ceremony this year to celebrate the achievements of the leading professionals and businesses that have been pivotal in safeguarding individuals, businesses, and the Commonwealth against the growing number of cyber security threats.
There was light and laughter throughout the evening as Australian stand-up comedian, actor, and television and radio presenter Dave Thornton assumed emcee duties.
With cyber security now established as a fundamental contributor to bolstering Australia’s national security, the Australian Cyber Security Awards 2024 reaffirms the role of organisations and individuals in advancing the sector.
The awards ceremony showcased the depth of talent in the sector and shone a spotlight on those who have been striving to ensure that the economy continues to prosper.
The unparalleled awards program recognises professionals and businesses rather than products and platforms. It universally acknowledged all stakeholders in the cyber industry, including defence, insurance, cloud services, and technology, as well as those working in STEM, consultancy and ransomware protection.
The awards were open to all businesses operating in Australia supporting the cyber security supply chain.
They are coveted accolades for organisations and professionals seeking to cement their role in cyber security. Many innovative businesses have capitalised on the program to strengthen their position and win cyber projects or contracts, drive business growth, and recruit and retain top talent. For individuals, recognition has underpinned career advancement.
The Australian Cyber Security Awards 2024 winners received peer-reviewed recognition of their achievements in cyber from a judging panel that consisted of senior leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators.
