Healthed says that “work undertaken by a third-party contractor” led to the details of event participants becoming briefly publicly available.
Australian healthcare educator Healthed has confirmed that a database of its event participants was exposed online due to a website vulnerability.
Healthed is, according to its website, Australia’s largest provider of continuing professional development for general practitioners (GPs).
“Healthed, an Australian education provider to the healthcare profession, confirms that late yesterday, it became aware of a vulnerability within the Healthed website, traced to work undertaken by a third-party contractor,” a Healthed spokesperson told Cyber Daily.
“This vulnerability led to the names, email addresses, postal addresses and mobile phone numbers of participants who attended Healthed’s face-to-face educational seminars becoming publicly available.
“Healthed acted swiftly to resolve the issue within two hours of it being discovered and immediately advised its delegates and staff of the incident via email.
“Healthed deeply regrets the unauthorised sharing of personal contact details caused through this incident. No other personal information was compromised.
“The integrity and security of data held by Healthed is a key priority for the company, which has taken steps to ensure its website is now fully secure to prevent a similar incident from occurring again.”
The company did not disclose how many of its clients were impacted, nor if it is aware any of the data was accessed while it was publicly available. Medical staff exposed in the incident contacted Cyber Daily, which then sought confirmation from Healthed.
Healthed runs seminars and events across Australia, including the Annual Women’s Health Update 2024 and the Healthed Medical Update. Healthed’s Annual Women’s & Children Health Update had more than 1,800 attendants in 2023.
