Analogies to the “sweet science” fly as boxing legend and businessman comes out swinging against cyber security threats.
World boxing champion Danny Green has gotten into the ring with Australia’s Cyber Wardens program to promote the importance of cyber security in a rapidly changing threat environment.
Green is the co-founder of fitness and boxing brand UBX, which has gyms across Australia and New Zealand, and he is rolling out the Cyber Wardens program across his business, as well as fronting a new promotional campaign for the program.
Green said he wants to use his reach as an Olympian and businessman to educate other small-business owners about the importance of building and managing secure online environments.
“In boxing, staying one step ahead of your opponent is crucial,” Green said in a statement.
“The same applies to protecting your business and customers. I’m proud to be part of this initiative to help small businesses stay secure in the digital world.”
Green added that by utilising the business practices outlined by Cyber Wardens, he was confident about protecting his customers, franchisees, and IT infrastructure.
Tim West, UBX co-founder and managing director, agreed cyber security is a critical part of modern businesses.
“The Cyber Wardens program is a great initiative for small-business owners like the franchisees of UBX,” West said.
“It provides them with a simple, easy-to-understand resource to better safeguard their businesses in an increasingly digital world. By integrating this cyber security training into their operations, our franchisees are not only protecting themselves from cyber threats but also ensuring the privacy and trust of our members.”
Luke Achterstraat, CEO of the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia – which runs Cyber Wardens with the backing of the federal government – said he was thrilled to have West and Green on board.
“Danny and UBX’s commitment to cyber security sets a powerful example for small businesses everywhere,” Achterstraat said.
