Ransomware gang RansomHub continues to target organisations in the region, claiming late last week that it had successfully stolen data from Auckland-based interior design “concept store” Allium Interiors.

The hackers claimed on 9 August that they had exfiltrated 31 gigabytes of data from the retailer.

“We have gained access to all their files and webmails, and we have encrypted and stolen the server’s private information,” RansomHub – or its relevant affiliate – said in its leak post.

“If a ransom payment is not made, we will leak all private documents, databases, webmails, and source code.”

The gang listed a deadline of around eight days for Allium to pay the ransom, though the ransom amount was not listed. Similarly, RansomHub did not share any sample data from the alleged ransomware attack.

Allium boasts both a physical storefront in the Auckland suburb of Newmarket as well as an online store. The company has been in operation since 2000 and offers an interior design service. The company sources products from Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.

This alleged attack marks the fourth ANZ company targeted by the gang this month. RansomHub has posted three Australian engineering firms to its leak site since 2 August: McDowall Affleck, Kempe Engineering, and Hudson Civil Engineering.

The Allium attack also marks a clear escalation against targets in New Zealand, though RansomHub is not the only threat actor in action in the country. The Meow ransomware gang claimed to have exfiltrated data from IT services firm Banx last week, and Elite Fitness NZ confirmed it was the victim of a DragonForce attack in early July.

Allium Interiors did not respond to Cyber Daily’s request for comment.
