The former Canberra branch manager of the Australian Computing Society signs up with cyber security not-for-profit.
The not-for-profit Canberra Cyber Hub announced today (3 September) the appointment of a new chief operating officer, Dr Vicki Gardiner.
Gardiner joined the organisation effective today after a stint as the Canberra branch manager of the ACS.
According to the Canberra Cyber Hub, the new hire is a “powerhouse” appointment.
“We are delighted to welcome Vicki to the role,” Dr Michael Frater, chair of the Canberra Cyber Hub, said in a statement.
“Her extensive experience in workforce development and her commitment to diversity will be invaluable as we continue to build Canberra’s standing as a leader in the cyber industry.”
Prior to her time at the ACS, Gardiner wrote the Tasmanian Women in Engineering Strategy, and she recently headed up a project helping women move into ICT roles. She was also recognised for her work by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and has held several senior board and management positions.
“I am thrilled by the opportunity to contribute to building Canberra’s reputation as a centre of excellence in cyber security,” Gardiner said.
“What excites me most is the chance to enhance cyber capacity and capability in a way that uplifts the broader community.”
The Canberra Cyber Hub is funded by the ACT government and works to promote careers in the industry, as well as cyber security research and education.
