Wallace had previously served as the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Defence from July 2019 to August 2023, and prior to that as Minister of State for Security at the Home Office from July 2016 to July 2019.

The global investment group, headquartered in London, has offices in New York, Washington Austin, Colorado, and Sydney.

A former officer in the Scots Guards, Wallace attended the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and Millfield School in Somerset before seeing service in Northern Ireland, Germany, Cyprus and Central America during the 1990s.

“We are proud to welcome Sir Ben Wallace, former UK defence secretary, to the Boka leadership team as a partner,” Boka Capital said in a statement.

“With his unparalleled experience leading the UK’s defence strategy and understanding of the global geopolitical landscape, Sir Ben will bring a critical perspective to our mission of investing in defence technologies that enhance national security and sovereign resilience.

“This is a pivotal moment for Boka as we continue to drive growth in dual use technology innovation, and we’re thrilled to have Sir Ben on board.”

The company reportedly champions investment in sovereign resilience with a global perspective. It has a particular focus on security, defence, aerospace, advanced intelligence, and quantum systems.

In August last year, Sir Wallace penned a letter to the UK Prime Minister announcing his resignation as Secretary of State for Defence.

“I have had the privilege of serving you and your predecessors in the task of protecting this great country and keeping its citizens safe,” he said.

“From WannaCry, the 2017 terrorist attacks, the Salisbury Poisonings, Afghanistan, Sudan and Ukraine, it has been an honour to serve alongside the men and women of our Armed Forces and intelligence services who sacrifice so much for our security.

“The last four years have seen our Armed Forces and their leadership shine through. Whether it was the evacuation of Kabul, our COVID response, Ukraine or Sudan, the professionalism of our people has been first-class.

“I am proud that I have secured GCAP, AUKUS, NCF, National shipbuilding and the Defence and Security industrial strategies that will secure thousands of British jobs for our young people many years into the future."
