The Sarcoma ransomware gang made a big splash when it revealed itself, sharing the details of 30 victims and samples of stolen data on 10 October.

Among its victims, adding up to an alleged 5,324.76 gigabytes of stolen data, were three Australian businesses and one New Zealand firm.

We’ve already reported on The Plastic Bag Company and Perfection Fresh, both in Australia, and Advanced Accounting from New Zealand.

The fourth ANZ victim appears to be Western Australia-based Road Distribution Services, a transport and logistics company operating out of Perth Airport.

No ransom has been listed, and Sarcoma is threatening to publish the data within 12 days.

The threat actor shared several internal and personal documents exfiltrated during the alleged hack. The data includes a doctor’s referral belonging to a Road Distribution Services employee and a client spreadsheet listing several large supermarket chains, among others.

Road Distribution Services offers transport, logistics, and warehouse services, including a priority service for mining companies.

“Whether it is a regular fixed run service, or a one-off movement throughout regional Australia, RDS has the equipment and the knowledge to complete the job,” the company’s website said.

“Mine site, containerise, machinery, bulk or palletised goods transport are all available at competitive rates.”

Cyber Daily has been in contact with Road Distribution Services; however, the company has so far declined to comment.

Sarcoma is a new gang, and very little is known about them at this stage.

“Today, more and more information is stored on digital media. Companies that store sensitive information on their servers must take a responsible attitude to security,” Sarcoma said on its About Us page.

“Our mission is to show the world how important it is to keep data safe. If you see your company on our website, it means that security was low.

“We invite access brokers, interested parties, aggrieved employees of companies to co-operate. Together we can be stronger and richer.

“We know how to make our cooperation profitable and safe.”
