A 29-year-old police constable with the NSW Police has been charged after he allegedly gained unauthorised access to a police computer database.

The Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Casing to investigate the officer’s alleged conduct after receiving reports on the matter. Police allege the man accessed the database between May 2021 and April 2024.

The man – who was attached to a command in the North West Metropolitan Region – was arrested at his Claremont Meadows home today, 10 January. He was taken to Penrith Police Station before investigators executed a search warrant at another residence in Chester Hill.

Police seized mobile phones, electronic equipment and documents related to the case, which are now being forensically examined.

The officer has been suspended from duty and charged with holder of public office misconduct him or herself and 10 counts of unauthorised access to or modification of restricted data held in computer.
