The Asia-Pacific Venue Management Association (VMA) has disclosed a cyber attack on its email systems.
The Australian firm communicated news of the incident to its members, saying it had locked down the threat.
“We have successfully resolved the immediate threat and are continuing to work through a thorough investigation of the incident. Our priority remains the security and trust of our members, and we are committed to maintaining open communication throughout this process.
“Following the completion of our investigation, we will implement a comprehensive action plan to further secure our systems and ensure the continued protection of member data,” it said.
According to the email, the incident was discovered after a number of members reported receiving suspicious emails from VMA email addresses.
