Global law enforcement has seized a number of online hacking forums as part of a wider collaborative campaign.
Led by the FBI with aid from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Europol and more, Operation Talent has seen at least five hacking forums – cracked[.] io, mysellix[.]io, nulled[.]to, sellix[.]io and starkrdp[.]io – taken control of and are now displaying a seizure banner.
“This website, as well as the information on the customers and victims of the website, has been seized by international law enforcement partners,” said the banners.
The forums were largely hubs for cyber criminal activity, hosting hacking tools for malicious attacks such as credential stuffing, the selling of exfiltrated data, combo lists, stolen credentials and more.
According to BleepingComputer, members of these forums also discussed ethical hacking.
Alongside the banners, the FBI seized the domains of the forums and changed some of their name servers. Cracked[.]io and Nulled[.]to are ns1.fbi.seized.gov and ns2.fbi.seized.gov, for example.
In an announcement on its Telegram, Cracked[.]io announced that what it had originally believed was an “active issue in [its] data centre” was actually a seizure under Operation Talent.
“Now that everyone has more clarity on the situation, Cracked[.]io has been seized under operation talent with specific reasons being undisclosed,” the group wrote on Telegram.
“We are still waiting for the official court documentation from the data centre and the domain host. We will inform you guys further on those details once we have it.
“A sad day indeed for our community.”
