The Australian Cyber Summit 2025 – returning for the third year – will offer a jam-packed agenda to arm attendees with tools and insights to navigate the ever-evolving cyber security landscape.

To be held on Tuesday, 29 April 2025, at Ilumina in Sydney, the Australian Cyber Summit will bring engaging sessions from the cyber industry’s brightest minds. Click here to buy tickets.

The event features an unparalleled speaker line-up, including experts such as James Corera, director of cyber, technology and security at Australian Strategic Policy Institute; Doug Thompson, national information security and digital risk manager at Myer; and Dr Robert Hunjet, program leader – Australian defence science and universities network at Defence Science and Technology Group, among others.

The summit’s premier line-up of cyber experts is joined by Sam Mackay, chief information security officer at the NSW Department of Customer Service.

For more than a decade, Mackay held technical leadership roles within Special Forces, focusing on cyber security, information warfare, and technology as an Army officer at Defence Australia.

Transitioning to the corporate sector, Mackay became senior manager of technology and cyber risk at Westpac, where he tackled emerging threats and strengthened digital infrastructure.

He later served as director security operations at the NSW Department of Customer Service before advancing to his current position as a chief information security officer in January 2023.

With experience spanning the military, corporate, and government sectors, Mackay has a unique background ranging from defending highly sensitive military systems in international war zones to mitigating cyber risk in corporate environments.

He has dedicated his career to protecting information and data against the actions of cyber threats, adversaries and malicious actors.

At the Australian Cyber Summit, Mackay will share practical tips on how cyber professionals can stay ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving cyber security industry.

Beyond Mackay’s session, the summit will also feature a range of ground-breaking sessions to analyse the most pressing cyber threats, unpack the latest innovations, and assess how the Commonwealth is strengthening Australia’s cyber defences.
