A cyber attack on a New Zealand medical institution has been claimed by the Kill Security (KillSec) hacking group.
The threat actor listed Obex Medical on its dark web leak site overnight, claiming to have exfiltrated company data.
Obex Medical is a distributor of medical equipment to hospitals and healthcare institutions specifically for anaesthesia, critical care, infection prevention and more.
Like its recent listings, KillSec has not set a ransom for the listing, but it has set a timer for less than eight days at the time of writing.
Additionally, it provided a sample of the data, which contains a number of tax invoices for shipped parts delivered to different hospitals and healthcare organisations.
It does not appear that any personal data has been exposed; however, Cyber Daily has not been able to verify that personal data has not been compromised in the incident.
Cyber Daily has reached out to Obex Medical for more information and is awaiting a response.
Just days ago, KillSec also claimed a cyber incident on an Australian education centre, the Albright Institute of Language and Business.
Albright Institute is a registered training organisation (RTO) that provides training in the English language and offers diplomas and other qualifications in business, giving students the step up to begin study at Australian universities.
In a post on its dark web leak site, it posted a data sample containing passport scans, study offer letters, payment plan documents, visa application documents and more, including a document containing lists of personal data.
Data includes student name, school ID, school email, personal email, mobile number, qualifications, unit, assessment and assessment status, deadlines, results, and more.
Cyber Daily has also reached out to the Albright Institute for more information and is awaiting a response.
