Hacker offers 94,000 lines of Australian XXX Reviews member emails for sale on a popular hacking site.
A spokesperson representing an Australian adult website has confirmed that a limited amount of its user data has been leaked after a hacker offered a 94,000-strong dataset for sale on a popular hacking forum.
A hacker going by the name of pirates_gold said in a post dated 18 February that they were selling the data for US$300 in bitcoin.
Included in the post was the name of the site – Australian XXX Reviews – and a sample of dozens of sets of user data, which includes user names, email addresses, and hashed and salted passwords, as well as membership details.
While some of the emails have been previously published in various forms online as parts of previous data breaches, many more are appearing in this leak for the first time, according to data leak website HaveIBeenPwned.com.
The spokesperson said they were unaware of the incident until Cyber Daily brought it to their attention.
“The date of the incident occurred was the 18th of February,” the spokesperson told Cyber Daily, “the same day it went up for sale”.
“On the 14th, we moved to a new server, and have now updated the software, and are continuing to update the site. One of the SEO modules appears to be the issue.”
The spokesperson said they were horrified by the incident and upset that someone would sell the data online. They also said the matter had been referred to both the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the Australian Cyber Security Centre.
No credit card data or other information has been impacted by the breach, nor is that data stored by the website.
Australian XXX Reviews is a forum dedicated to reviews and information related to Australian brothels, sex workers, and their clients. According to the website, it is the “highest-ranking adult review website in Australia”.
Pirates_gold has been actively sharing data leaks since early January 2025. Since then, the hacker has posted 21 data sets for sale from companies in Brazil, the US, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia.
