The Albany, Western Australia-based Southern Regional Medical Group (SRMG) has been listed as an alleged victim on the darknet leak site of the RansomHub ransomware gang.

SRMG was first listed on the leak site on 7 March, with RansomHub – or, more accurately, its affiliate, as the gang is a ransomware-as-a-service operation – claiming to have stolen 19 gigabytes of data.

The hackers have released no documents as evidence of the hack, nor a ransom demand. However, as of the time of writing, the data is set to be published within five days. So far, the leak post has been viewed 563 times.

Cyber Daily reached out to SRMG at the time of the posting but has yet to receive a response.

RansomHub first emerged as a ransomware-as-a-service operation in February 2024 and is currently one of the most active criminal groups. The gang and its affiliates have claimed 71 – including SRMG – victims to date and is currently the number six ranked group in terms of victim count.

RansomHub was observed targeting US payment provider service Change Healthcare in 2024, which had previously been targeted by the BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware group. This connection has led some researchers to believe that RansomHub may be a rebrand of the BlackCat/ALPHV operation.

The group's most recent ANZ victim was New Zealand law firm Hudson Gavin Martin, which was listed by the gang in February 2025.

The Southern Regional Medical Group offers a range of medical services both at its own practice and to aged-care providers and hospitals in the Albany region. SRMG’s services include anaesthetics, carpal tunnel treatment, child and aged-care health, occupational health, family planning, and skin and mole clinics.

According to SRMG’s website, it is also an accredited training practice – “this means we educate and support student doctors as well as doctors finalising their GP specialisation”.

SRMG employs 18 GPs and registered nurses, as well as administrative staff.
