Cyber Security Connect is marking a milestone by launching its first-ever Australian Cyber Security Awards 2023, run with the support of principal partner Palo Alto Networks.

Members of the cyber security industry are encouraged to submit an entry or nominate a worthy colleague across 34 individual and group award categories by Thursday, 9 March 2023.

The winners will be announced at a gala black-tie dinner ceremony on Thursday, 1 June 2023 at Hotel Realm in Canberra.

The highest-scoring individual winner will receive the first-ever prestigious Cyber Security Excellence Award.

The inaugural awards have been designed to recognise the top businesses and professionals in the cyber sector across Australia while acknowledging all cyber stakeholders, from defence, insurance, cloud service, technology, STEM, consultancy, chief information security officers, and ransomware protection.

Recognising people and businesses rather than platforms and products, the awards are open to all professionals and businesses operating in Australia supporting the cyber security supply chain who meet the eligibility criteria.

With the ever-growing threat of cyber attacks on businesses of all sizes across Australia, cyber security professionals are integral to the safety and prosperity of this country. As such, it is now more important than ever to recognise those who are going above and beyond to protect businesses.

The coveted Cyber Security Awards will affirm the sector’s valuable role in safeguarding businesses, individuals, and the Commonwealth in a rapidly changing security environment, while showcasing the depth of talent and cementing their role in cyber security.

The awards will provide winners with recognition on a national stage and underpin career advancement for individuals.

They will also distinguish businesses from their competitors, allowing them to attract and retain the best talent and strengthen their position to win cyber projects or contracts.

The Cyber Security Awards are peer-reviewed by a well-respected judging panel that includes senior leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

The judging criteria is both quantitative and qualitative, and rewards growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence, contribution to the cyber sector, and passion for driving it forward.

To enter the awards, simply decide which categories you are eligible to enter, register your account through the secure awards platform, and fill in the details of your submission/s.

When you are happy with your submission, press save and lodge it.

Commenting on the inaugural awards, Cyber Security Connect editor Liam Garman said that the awards were critical to acknowledge the efforts of the industry’s best and brightest in keeping Australia safe.

“We launched the inaugural Australian Cyber Security Awards to recognise those who work tirelessly to keep Australians safe,” he said.

Whether you’re an innovator, a CISO or an up-and-coming start-up ready to revolutionise the industry, we want to hear from you and better understand how you’ve shaped this amazing industry.”

Submit an entry or nominate a worthy colleague by Thursday, 9 March 2023 and don’t miss out on a chance to gain recognition on a national stage!
