The demand for data security platforms is skyrocketing thanks to recent breaches and the current cyber climate. Gartner expects that 30 per cent of organisations will have adopted a broad-spectrum data security platform by 2025, a significant increase from under 10 per cent in 2021.

Offered as an “as-a-service” cloud-based subscription model, Thales CipherTrust service will provide organisations with the tools needed to secure their systems without the need to invest or manage hardware.

“Thales has over 40 years of experience delivering encryption and key management solutions to thousands of customers,” said the vice-president of data security products at Thales, Todd Moore.

“We’ve introduced the new cloud-based delivery model for CipherTrust Data Security Platform services to meet growing demands for business agility and interest in consuming our solutions as-a-service.

“Through this, we can simplify the deployment of encryption and key management by lowering the cost of ownership, reducing deployment time, and helping constrained enterprises address the mounting shortage of skilled security personnel.”

The new system has already begun to simplify data security for customers, with 70 per cent of customers saying they have seen a 70 per cent drop in effort for encryption and key management, a 50 per cent decrease in the effort for interface development and a 35 per cent drop in data breach impact, according to the Forrester Total Economic Impact report.

Increasing convenience and flexibility, CipherTrust customers have a choice of key management deployment options with the new platform, with virtual machine, physical appliance and hybrid cluster to include a cloud-based subscription service.

The service also makes use of the industry-leading CCKM (Cisco Centralized Key Management) multi-cloud encryption key management solution, allowing customers to centralise the life cycle management of keys across all major cloud service providers.

CCKM also includes support for Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) and Hold Your Own Key (HYOK), as well as cloud native keys, improving efficiency as organisations gain visibility across multi-cloud environments.

The CipherTrust Data Security Platform as-a-service offerings are available now on Thales’s Data Protection on Demand Marketplace.
