National security-focused venture capital fund Salus Ventures has announced the appointment of Dr Shane Arnott to its Strategic Advisor Program as a senior adviser.

Arnott is a defence industry veteran and is currently senior vice president at Anduril Industries, leading its engineering and industrial teams and overseeing the development of the Ghost Bat and Ghost Shark uncrewed vehicle programs.

Before Anduril, Arnott held a senior engineering role at the Boeing group for more than 20 years.

“Shane’s deep technical knowledge and extensive background in defence and national security adds immense value to our portfolio companies and investment strategies,” Dan Bennett, Salus Ventures’ general partner and co-founder, said in a statement.

“His expertise underscores our ongoing commitment to building a uniquely equipped team that marries private sector innovation with public sector goals.”

Marten Peck, Salus Ventures’ general partner and co-founder, said Arnott’s appointment to the fund’s Strategic Advisor Program “is a continuation of our efforts to bolster Australia’s position in the global technology landscape”.

For his part, Arnott is keen to get started in the role, joining industry experts, including Paul Symon AO, the Honourable Arthur Sinodinos AO, and Rear Admiral Lee Goddard CSC.

“It’s an honour to join Salus Ventures as a senior advisor,” Arnott said.

“I look forward to collaborating with the team to advance critical sovereign capabilities, contribute to defending democracy, and foster innovation within Australia’s tech ecosystem.”
