Cloud security company Zscaler has announced a range of new cloud and AI security solutions at its Zenith Live event in Las Vegas overnight.
The company announced four high-level services that work to extend the functionality of its Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange cloud security platform, all aimed at enhancing the management and mitigation of large-scale cyber security threats.
Zscaler Risk360 uses data gathered from both external and internal sources to deliver detailed risk visualisation and quantification. It can create risk scores in real time for a range of cyber threats at all stages of execution and delivers workflows and recommendations for chief information officers and chief information security officers, as well as helping to create material to present to a company’s senior management.
Zero Trust Branch Connectivity aims to assist in the setting up of new branch offices within an organisation by replacing site-to-site VPNs with a zero-trust architecture, and later in 2023, will also include a hardware appliance to make expanding into smaller branch offices even more streamlined. John Knightly, Zscaler senior vice president of portfolio marketing, told Cyber Security Connect that some observers were already noting that it was strange seeing Zscaler, which is ostensibly a software company, producing hardware.
“But it’s something a lot of our customers wanted,” he told Cyber Security Connect.
Also announced was Zscaler ITDR, a solution that allows CISOs to monitor their organisation’s attack surface while also quantifying any associated risks, while also illuminating network misconfigurations. It can monitor and stop a number of privilege escalations, as well as offering step-by-step remediation advice.
Zscaler also revealed a new ZSLogin feature, a centralised dashboard that offers entitlement management, passwordless multifactor authentication, and automated admin identity management.
On the artificial intelligence (AI) front, the company announced a suite of security tools that both harnesses AI and provides the tools for organisations to build their own AI toolsets.
“Generative AI presents a game-changing inflection point in technology, and the organisations that have large volumes of relevant, private enterprise data to seize its potential today will emerge as leaders tomorrow,” said Jay Chaudhry, chief executive, chairman, and founder of Zscaler.
Zscaler Data Loss Prevention prevents data leakage and records generative AI queries for auditing purposes, while AITotal delivers risk scores for the growing number of AI-powered applications appearing on the market. Finally, AI Visibility & Access Control helps create different user policies around AI applications. Cloud-based Remote Browser Isolation provides another layer of security, restricting risky actions such as cut-and-paste when using AI applications.
“Recognising the significance of this technology years ago, we’ve implemented AI and ML capabilities to dramatically improve multiple services from data protection to digital experience monitoring,” Chaudhry said. “Today, Zscaler is taking a quantum leap forward by introducing a suite of security capabilities that allow our customers to safely harness the power of new generative AI tools to predict and stop breaches.”
Zscaler also previewed a suite of AI tools that can predict breaches before they happen. Security Autopilot allows AI engines to learn from cloud-based policy changes and logs and, in turn, recommend new policies and security postures, while Zscaler Navigator offers a natural language interface that lets users interact with the company’s other applications in an easy and seamless manner.
Lastly, Multi-Modal DLP is aimed at expanding data loss protection from not just text and images but also to a wider array of media formats that are being used day-to-day by many organisations.
“Zscaler will revolutionise the way DLP will operate by integrating generative AI and multi-modal capabilities into its DLP offerings to protect customers’ data from leakage across various media formats beyond text and images, such as video and audio formats,” the company said in an announcement.
