In his new role, Sentonas will manage the company’s sales, marketing, threat intelligence, engineering, product, and CTO teams, and will report directly to CrowdStrike co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) George Kurtz.

Prior to joining CrowdStrike in 2016, Sentonas held a range of senior roles at McAfee which included chief technology officer for Security Connected and chief technology and strategy officer for the Asia-Pacific region.

After joining CrowdStrike, Sentonas held the position of vice-president of technology strategy before moving into the CTO role in 2020.

“Mike has proven himself as a one-of-a-kind leader maniacally focused on execution. No one in cyber security is more adept at aligning customer needs with technology and go-to-market excellence than Mike. His technical acumen, market mastery, and passion for winning have made him highly sought by customers, employees, partners, analysts, and investors alike,” Kurtz said in the promotion announcement.

“Mike is a tremendous partner and will continue helping me drive the company to our next level of growth. His unique skillset and leadership will allow me to engage even more with our customers and partners as we continue scaling CrowdStrike into a once-in-a-generation cyber security company.

“CrowdStrike became one of the fastest growing cloud companies ever by rewriting the playbook on how organisations stop breaches and protect themselves against sophisticated and relentless adversaries,” Sentonas said.

“It’s a rare opportunity to work with a founder and CEO of George’s calibre. I’m grateful for the confidence and faith that he has placed in me to help drive our next phase of growth.”
